The Statistical Yearbook of Iran contains the latest statistical information available on economic, social, cultural and political areas of the country to meet the statistical data needs of the local decision makers, planners and researchers, as well as all other interested users. The Yearbook has been released regularly since the year 1345.

The major sources of the Yearbook include: (a) the results of censuses and sample surveys conducted by the Statistical Centre of Iran (SCI), (b) the results of surveys conducted by other government organizations, and (c) administrative registers. Since population and housing census and also some other censuses and surveys conducted by the SCI or other organizations are not taken at regular intervals, some of the Yearbook’s statistical items are not available annually and continuously.
