Consumer Price Index in the Month of Bahman of the Year 1401[1]

Increase in National Point-to-Point Inflation Rate

The point-to-point inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index in comparison with the corresponding month in the previous year. The point-to-point inflation rate in the month of Bahman[2] of the year 1401 stood at 53.4 percent. This means all households nationwide spent on average 53.4 percent higher than the month of Bahman of the year 1400 for purchasing “the same goods and services”.

The point-to-point inflation rate of this month experienced a 2.1 percentage point increase in comparison with the previous month (Dey, the year 1401). The point-to-point inflation rates for the major groups of “food, beverages and tobacco” and “non-food  items and services” were  70.5 percent with a 1.3 percentage point increase and 43.5 percent with a 2.3 percentage point increase, respectively.

This is while the point-to-point inflation rate for urban households stood at 52.7 percent which increased by 2.1 percentage points in comparison with the previous month. Moreover, this rate was 56.7 percent for rural households which increased by 1.8 percentage points in comparison with the previous month.

Decrease in the Monthly National Households Inflation Rate

The monthly inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index in comparison with the previous month. The monthly inflation rate in the month of Bahman of the year 1401 stood at 3.5 percent which decreased by 0.8 percentage points in comparison with the previous month (Dey, the year 1401). The monthly inflation rate for the major group of “food, beverages and tobacco” and “non-food items and services” stood at 4.7 and 2.7 percent.

This is while the monthly inflation rate for urban and rural households stood at 3.4 and 4.0 percent, respectively which decreased by 0.9 percentage points for urban households and 0.3 percentage points for rural households.
