The Regional Course on Statistical Business Registers: Making better use of administrative data

The Regional Course on “Statistical Business Registers: Making better use of administrative data” was held in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran from 10 - 13 December 2017 ( 19 to 22 Azar, 1396) in collaboration with Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP), the Statistical Centre of Iran (SCI) and Statistical Research and Training Centre (SRTC). The participants of the course were from Armenia, Azerbaijan, I.R.Iran, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Mongolia and Tajikistan. The Course was inaugurated by the messages from Mr. Ashis Kumar, SIAP Director and Mr. Omid Ali Parsa, Head of Statistical Centre of Iran.
The course aimed to provide a platform for demonstrating good practices and exchanging experiences in dealing with challenges and issues in the improvement, maintenance and use of statistical business registers.
The training course was designed to assist participants in identifying practical approaches and solutions to key issues and problems in maintaining and fully utilizing SBRs that are relevant to the current state of SBR implementation in their statistical system. Specifically, as a result of the course participants were expected to be able to:

Assess outputs, uses and users of their SBR and mechanisms for ensuring confidentiality, access and effective dissemination of SBR information

Assess/improve coverage, units, content and data sources of their SBRs

Take action to make better use of administrative data for their SBRs

Assess/improve maintenance procedures of their SBR

Take action to better assure and measure quality of their SBRs
It is necessary to mention that Statistical Centre of Iran has close cooperation with the SIAP on capacity building on statistics for the regional countries.
