Consumer Price Index in the Month of Mordad of the Year 1398[1]

Decrease in  Point-to-Point Inflation Rate for National Households

Point-to-Point Inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index in comparison with the  corresponding month in the previous month. The point-to-point inflation rate in the month of Mordad2 of the year 1398 reached 41.6 percent, that is to say that the national households spent, on average, 41.6 percent higher than the month of Mordad in the year 1397 for purchasing “the same goods and services”.

Moreover, the point-to-point inflation rate in the month of Mordad 1398 experienced  a 6.4 percentage point decrease in comparison with the previous month (Tir, 1398). The point-to-point inflation rates for the major groups of "food, beverages and tobacco" and "non-food items and services" were 56.6 and 35.2 percent, respectively which show these rate have decreased in contrast to the previous month.

Decrease in the  Monthly Inflation Rate for  National Households

The Monthly Inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index in comparison with the  previous month. The monthly inflation rate in the month of Mordad of the year 1398 reached 0.6 percent, which indicates a 2.2 percentage point decrease in comparison with the previous month (Tir 1398). The monthly inflation rates for the major groups of "food, beverages and tobacco" and "non-food items and services" were -0.5 and 1.2 percent, respectively.

Increase in the Annual Inflation Rate for  National Households

The Annual Inflation rate refers to the percentage average change in the  price index in a year ending to the current month  compared to the  previous same period. The annual inflation rate  of the month Mordad of the year 1398 for national households  reached 42.2 percent which increased by 1.8 percent in comparison with the previous month (Tir 1398).
