Hosting Communications Policy Workshop for Government Agencies Organized by UNFPA, 16-18 October 2017

 In line with the collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund in Iran, Statistical Centre of Iran hosted the Workshop on Policy Communications which was held during 16-18 October 2017. This three-day Workshop was organized by UNFPA within its Sixth Country Programme. The overall learning outcome of the policy communications course was to enhance the ability of UNFPA Iran’s strategic partners to engage with national policy dialogue, and to influence decisions that meet UNFPA’s Strategic Plan outcomes. The course was designed to assist with the development of a systemic approach to engaging upstream, that improves the ability of key partners to communicate strategic issues to different audiences effectively.  By attending the course, participants could gain a greater understanding about:

  • how UNFPA staff and strategic partners can influence national public policy processes and decision-making;

  • how evidence can be translated into actionable policy recommendations; and

  • how to effectively use a range of tools to influence policy making.

 It is necessary to mention that different government agencies participated in this workshop. This training was facilitated by Allen & Clarke, a Public Consultancy Firm from New Zealand that specializes in policy evaluation, programme development, and implementation with significant experience in conducting policy formation courses and training for diverse groups and organizations.
