On 23 October 2017, National Statistics and Planning Day was celebrated with the theme of” Moving to Modernization of National Statistical System” by the Statistical Centre of Iran (SCI). The ceremony was attended by  diffent guests including  Dr. Mohammad Bagher Nubakht, Vice President and Head of Plan and Budget Organization, Dr. Pezeshkian, First Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Dr. Ali Aghamohammadi, the member of Expediency Discernment Council of the System, the high-ranking  officials of the Plan and Budget Organization, representatives of  national and provincial government agencies including deputies, managers and experts. The mentioned high-ranking officials delivered a speech on the importance of data and statistics in planning and drawing the future.

 The celebration of the National Statistics and Planning Day aims to enhance the knowledge and awareness of the public, mass media, planners and decision-makers towards the important role of statistics in better life and better planning and decision-making.

 It is noteworthy that National Statistics and Planning Day was celebrated for the first time on 23 October 1999 in Iran by the SCI. Every year Statistical Centre of Iran celebrates this important Day in which high ranking officials, different government agencies, academics, statistics and information managers at provincial and national levels, mass media and SCI’s staff  as well as representative of some international organizations in Iran participate.
