A Report on Consumer Price Indices for Goods and Services of Rural Households in the Month of Mordad of the Year 1396

1. The general index (base year 1390=100) in the month of Mordad (23 July-22 August 2017) of the year 13961 shows 265.8 which has increased by 1.0 percent in contrast to the preceding month. The increase in the general index was 8.9 percent compared to the corresponding month in the previous year which dropped by 0.8 percentage point over the point-to-point inflation in the previous month (9.7 percent). Percentage changes in the general index for the 12 months ending to the month of Mordad of the year 1396 were 8.8 percent in contrast to the corresponding period of the previous year (rural inflation rate), which had no change over the same information in the previous month (8.8 percent).

2-The CPI for the major group of "Foods, Beverages and Tobaccos" in this month reached 301.5, which increased by 1.5 percent compared to the previous month. The index of the major group of "Foods, Beverages and Tobacco" increased by 11.9 percent in contrast to the corresponding month in the previous year, and percentage changes in this group for the 12 months ending to the month of Mordad of the year 1396 were 11.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, which rose by 0.4 percentage point in contrast to the inflation of the 12 months ending to the previous month (10.9 percent).  The index of the major group of “Foods” in the mentioned month reached 298.5, which increased by 1.5 percent compared to the previous month. The index of the major group of “foods” increased by 12.1 percent, as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and the inflation rate of the 12 months of this group was 11.3 percent.

3- The index of the major group of "Non-Foods and Services" in the month of Mordad of the year 1396 reached 241.8, which increased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month. The index of the major group of "Non-Foods and Services" rose by 6.5 percent compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, and the inflation rate of this group for the 12 months ending to the month of Mordad of the year 1396 was 7.0 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, which decreased by 0.1 percentage point in contrast to the inflation rate of the 12 months ending to the previous month (7.1 percent).
