The Consumer Price Indices for Goods and Services of Households of the total country (national inflation) by urban and rural areas were released for the first time in the month of Mordad. This report includes three sectors: CPI for goods and services of the total households in the country, CPI for goods and services of urban households and CPI for goods and services of rural households.

 1. The general index (base year 1390=100) for households in the total country, urban areas and rural areas in the month of Mordad (23 July-22 August 2017) of the year 1396¹ shows 252.8, 249.6 and 265.8, respectively which increased by 0.7, 0.6 and 1.0 percent in contrast to the preceding month. The increase in the general index was 8.2, 8.1 and 8.3 percent, respectively compared to the corresponding month in the previous year (point-to-point inflation), which dropped by 0.9 percent for the total country  and 0.8 percentage point  for urban and rural areas over the same information in the previous month. Percentage changes in the general index (inflation rate of consumer goods and services for households) for the 12 months ending to the month of Mordad of the year 1396 were 7.9 percent for the total country, 7.7 percent for urban areas and 8.8 percent for rural areas in contrast to the corresponding period of the previous year, which grew by 0.1 percentage point over the same information in the previous month for urban areas and had no change for the total country and rural areas.

2-The CPI for the major group of "Foods, Beverages and Tobaccos" in this month reached 303.6, 304.6 and 301.5 which increased by 0.8, 0.5 and 1.5 percent, respectively compared to the previous month. The index of the major group of “Foods, Beverages and Tobacco" for  the total country, urban areas and rural areas increased by 11.3, 11.0 and 11.9 percent, respectively in contrast to the corresponding month in the previous year. Percentage changes in this group for the 12 months ending to the month of Mordad of the year 1396 were 11.2 percent for the total country and urban areas and 11.3 percent for rural areas compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.  The index of the major group of “Foods” for the total country, urban areas and rural areas in the mentioned month reached 301.4, 302.7 and 298.5 respectively, which increased by 1.5 , 0.5 and 12.1 percent, respectively compared to the previous month. The index of the major group of “Foods” increased by 11.4, 11.1 and 12.1 percent, respectively as compared to the corresponding month in the previous year and the inflation rate of the 12 months of this group was 11.3 percent for the total country, urban areas and rural areas.

3- The index of the major group of "Non-Foods and Services" for the total country, urban areas and rural areas in the month of Mordad of the year 1396 reached 232.5, 230.7, and 241.8, respectively which increased by 0.6 percent  compared to the previous month. Moreover, the index of the major group of "Non-Foods and Services" rose by 6.7, 6.8 and 6.5 percent, respectively compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. The inflation rates of this group for the 12 months ending to the month of Mordad of the year 1396 were 6.3 percent for the total country, 6.2 percent for urban areas and 7.0 percent for rural areas over the corresponding period of the previous year.
