Based on the results of the 2016 National Population and Housing Census, more than 64 percent of females aged 10 and over are married, which shows an increase of 3.3% compared to the 2011 Census.

The proportion of married women has increased from 61 percent in 2011 to 64.3 percent in 2016, which represents an increase of 1 million 966 thousand and 186 persons in the number of women. The proportion of married men has also experienced an increase between the two censuses and has jumped from 60 percent in 2011 census to 63.3 percent in the 2016 Census, this increase for men is 3.3 percent and includes 2 million 171 thousand and 592 persons.

The results of this Census indicate that 65.5% of the men who are over 10 years, are ever married, of whom 63.3% are currently married, 1.2% are widowed due to divorce and 1% are widowed because of their spouse death. The percentage of ever married women is 73.8 percent, of whom 64.3%  are currently married, 2.2 percent are widowed due to divorce and 7.8 percent are widowed because of their spouse death. It is noteworthy that the number of single women (due to divorce and death of the spouse) is higher than the number of men, and one of the main reasons for this fact is remarriage among the men.

Review of the percentage of never married population represents that in some age groups, this ratio has not followed the pattern of the whole country and between these two censuses, the percentage of never married people  has increased. The percentage of never married males in the 30 - 34 age group has increased from 15.9 percent in 2011 to 20.3 percent in 2016; this is the while that the percentage of never married females in the 30- 34 age group has declined from 15.4 percent in the 2011 Census to 15.2 percentage in 2016; which is in compliance with the overall declining pattern of the Country.
