The Fourth RAP Regional Workshop on
Building Training Resources for Improving Agricultural and Rural Statistics
will be held from 14 to 18 December 2014 in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.
The workshop, organized by the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific
(SIAP) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the
Pacific (ESCAP), is part of the training programme of the Asia-Pacific Regional
Action Plan to Implement the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural
Statistics (RAP). The workshop will be conducted in collaboration with RAP
implementing partners—the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the Food and
Agriculture Organization and the Asian Development Bank-- will be hosted by
Statistical Centre of Iran, in the Statistical Research and Training Centre (SRTC).
In this workshop 9 countries including Islamic Republic of Iran from Asia and
the Pacific region are to participate. The workshop is to be opened by the message
from Dr. Adel Azar, the Head of the Statistical Centre of Iran, at 9 a.m. on
Sunday, 14 December 2014 in SRTC.
This training workshop focuses on capacity building on the second pillar
of the Global Strategy -- integration of agricultural statistics into national
statistical systems through implementation of a methodology set, that includes
a Master Sampling Frame (MSF) for agriculture and an integrated survey
framework. It will provide an overview of the ongoing methodological work on
data integration in the context of integrated survey strategies and present
issues and recommendations addressed in this work including: concepts, types,
benefits and limitations of data integration; methods and applications for
interlinking different statistical units; and quality issues in data
integration. The workshop will also facilitate discussions on how countries may
initiate a data. It is worth mentioning that the Statistical
Centre of Iran is an active partner for SIAP in conducting training programme in regional and
sub-regional workshops/courses in the UNESCAP region .
