UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Iran in the Statistical Centre of Iran (SCI)

 

 Mr. Balasubramaniam Murali, the Deputy Resident Representative of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in I.R. Iran paid a visit to the SCI on 14 September 2014. The main objective of this visit was to discuss the feasibility of joint projects on preparing the Human Development Report. Mr. Murali highlighted that during the last two years, Iranian's indicators on HDR developed remarkably so that the world HDR in 2013 shows that Iran has made a progress in view of indicators of HDR. Moreover, comparison made by UNDP team on the HDRs of 100 countries for a 32 year period (1980-2012) indicates that I.R. Iran has achieved a significant progress in improving the indicators of Human Development Report. Dr. Azar, Head of the SCI, expressed that the SCI was ready to conduct joint projects with the UNDP on preparing the statistics for Human Development Report and MDGs indicators of Iran within the current rules and regulations of the country in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.
