Survey of “Energy Carriers Consumption in Household Sector in Urban Areas-1390” for private settled households and collective households in urban areas of the country(hereafter called “urban household”) was implemented within a one-year period of time - from 12 months before enumeration time to the time of enumeration -( Bahman21390). Review of the survey results reveals that:
There have been 15.41 million urban households in the country that live in 14.78 million housing units. A number of 5.9 million households (40.53 percent) are living in the apartment housing units, 8.7 million households (59.43 percent) in non- apartment housing units and 0.04 percent in other housing units. Total floor area of conventional urban housing units(apartment and non-apartment) is 1596.3 million square meters out of which 35.9 and 64.1 percent are related to apartment and non-apartment housing units respectively.
During cold months of the year, urban households heat 77.1 percent of total floor area of their housing units, and during the warm months of the year, they cool down 67.7 percent of total floor area of their housing units. Data collected indicate that households residing in the apartment housing units, depending on seasons, heat or cool down more percent of the floor area of their housing units than the households in non- apartment housing units.
